Wisp o' Wisdom

Who will dare to play while the lion roars?
-African proverb

Note: There are probably lions roaring all over the world whenever Lisgar O'Connor plays. This is probably because we play at night, but we like to think that they are singing along.

Won't you come see us at Daniel O'Connell's tomorrow night?

Daniel O'Connell's this Saturday, July 30!

The Imaginary story of Lisgar O’Connor

Summertime, easy living, jumping fish, high cotton, good looking mothers, what else could a man ask?

How about moving…?

The time always comes where one’s living quarters seem no longer adequate. That once perfect dwelling has become too small, too noisy, too dark, too hot, too cold. It is no longer the calm oasis we deserve. Caravans come and visit all the time: family and relatives, old girlfriends and even the Taxman – people we love and cherish – pop in at the most inconvenient times.

To quote our good friend Casino Guy: even the luckiest deck of cards needs to be shuffled once in awhile.

It’s time for a change.

So, no: Lisgar O’Connor has not ceased to exist since their Montreal performance in May. Bill moved to an undisclosed address, took time to settle in, and is hitting the Bar Scene with his good friend Sly once again as Lisgar O’Connor.

“Change means getting rid of some crap.” That’s what the toddler in diapers told his good looking mother who replied: “Hush little baby, don’t you cry.” Won’t you come and see us play at Daniel O’Connell’s?

Lisgar O'Connor Does Canada Day

Overwear: the cutest way to say "Canada my ass!"

Last year on Canada Day week-end, Lisgar O'Connor celebrated by playing three different gigs. This year, Sly and Bill decided they'd rather mingle with the crowd. Instead of singing Canadian songs, we hung out with Canadians.

July 2, 2004.

From a music theory perspective, if there's a Major Hill
Park, there must also be a Relative Minor Hill Park
somewhere. Anyway, there sure were lots of people
watching the Peace Tower on Canada Day.

When great minds collide, it makes fireworks!

After a few hours mingling with the crowd, Bill and Sly
headed over to the Little Chicago
(http://www.petitchicago.com/) in Hull because Maxime,
the friendly owner, makes the best Cuba Libre in town.

That's where we met Voluptuous Daphne, a
jazz singer from Montreal. “So, are you guys
together?” she inquired. “Even though we are
very happy, we are not happy enough to be gay.
But thanks for asking,” responded Sly.
“Appearances don’t count,” she tactfully replied,
“you know, what really matters is the beauty of it
all.”
She obviously knows a lot about beauty.
