Rocking the house at Daniel O’Connell’s Pub

A cozy venue, friendly staff, warm patrons and talented supporting musicians: what a perfect combination for an entertaining evening!

Once again, Lisgar O’Connor performed in front of a full house, Friday November 19, 2004, at Daniel O’Connell’s Pub (1205 Wellington Street in Westboro).

The evening began with Lisgar O’Connor’s very own arrangement of "John The Revelator", a spiritual blues song so old nobody remembers who wrote it. And – along with other popular songs by Fred Eaglesmith, Cat Stevens, Neil Young and Stan Rogers – Lisgar O’Connor performed, for the first time, their rendition of "Don Quixote" by Gordon Lightfoot.

A key part of Lisgar O’Connor’s show is a segment called "Language Night" during which Bill sings the Jazz Butcher’s "La Mer" in his best Liverpuddlian French (gotta keep working on that "C" level), and Sylvain, in French waiter attire, sings, in Russian, "At The Hospital" by Vladimir Vissotski.

One thing about Lisgar O’Connor is that we believe that if we can go on stage to play and sing, pretty much anybody can, as long as they have the guts and determination. Last Friday, we were very fortunate to see Dragana and Ranko taking over the stage to perform "Rain" and "Knocking on Heaven’s Door". Also, Jacques and Suzanne showed us their stuff with "Any Man Of Mine" by Shania Twain.

Actually Suzanne, who is very shy by nature, got so inspired later on in the evening that she tackled her demons and joined Lisgar O’Connor for an electrifying rendition of "Bobby McGee".

Lisgar O’Connor will be back at Daniel O’Connell’s on Friday January 28, 2005. In the meantime, keep visiting this blog for other performances (there are rumours of a semi-private – you’ll have to show up with only half of your privates – Boxing Day Party in downtown Ottawa).
